JORDAN, Elnora Katherine

The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Thursday, June 04, 2015 Elnora Katherine Jordan, born November 26, 1929 in Phoenix, Arizona, went to her heavenly Family on May 26, 2015. She leaves behind her husband Charles Jordan, daughters Nada Beth Encisco and Norela Harrington, son-in-law Herald Harrington, 9 grand children and 1 great granddaughter. Elnora attended Arizona State College (ASU) to become a home economics teacher. She taught in Buckeye and Camp Verde, Arizona. She married Clinton Simpson and gained a stepson, Carl Simpson, who both preceded her in death. The family made their home in Pomona California where she was a homemaker and the treasurer of Trinity United Methodist Church. After Clinton's death, she returned to Arizona to help her parents manage their farm. She met and married Charles Jordan in 1973. Together they worked on their joint properties growing alfalfa hay, cattle and fruit. Later they planted more orchards and grew vegetables. Every weekend they sold their produce at the local Farmer's Markets. Farming gave her the opportunity to add fresh produce to the meals she prepared. Many have enjoyed her cooking and visiting around the table. Elnora helped to found the Clemenceau Heritage Museum and served as their treasurer for many years. Her hope was to not leave her home by the Verde River and the many hundreds of birds that she and Charles hosted at their feeders. Admitted with congestive heart failure, she suffered complications after surgery at Flagstaff Medical Center. The Family would like to acknowledge the amazing team of doctors, nurses and staff of the CVICU floor that worked to prolong her life and tirelessly provide for her comfort. A memorial service will be held on June 7th, 2 PM, at Mountain View United Methodist Church, 901 S. 12th Street in Cottonwood, Arizona 86326. Memorial gifts can be sent in Elnora's name to the Clemenceau Heritage Museum, 1 North Willard Street, Cottonwood, Arizona 86326, or Flagstaff Medical Center Foundation, 1200 N. Beaver Street, Flagstaff, Arizona 86001. Information provided by survivors.
