Owens Livingston Mortuary, Show Low, Arizona Max Kenneth Long February 23, 1927 - June 11, 2015 Max Kenneth Long, age 88, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at his home in St. Johns, Arizona. He was born February 23, 1927 in Tipton, Iowa to Samuel Bruce Long and Velma Elizabeth Bower Long. Max was very active in all of the military organizations and with the Masons and El Zaribah Shrine. He served in the military for 38 years; most of the time as a recruiter in Phoenix, Arizona. He loved to hunt and fish and particularly enjoyed working with children. Max dressed up and played Santa Claus in several of the stores on the White Mountains. Max and Dorothy were married for 68 years. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was just a good person. He is survived by his wife: Dorothy. 2 children: Connie Long and Barbara Rupp. 2 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren. A brother: Monty Long. 4 sisters: Patricia Wachal, Jacqueline Riegert, Mavis Spry and Elizabeth Bentrott. The family is planning a memorial service in the future, but no date or time has been set yet. We will update this site as information becomes available. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 10, at the White River Masonic Lodge, 741 E. Whipple, in Show Low.
