Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, Prescott, Arizona Hope Elizabeth Merriam September 26, 1920 - June 10, 2015 Hope Elizabeth Merriam, 94, of Prescott Valley died June 10, 2015 at home with her daughter by her side. She was born September 26, 1920 in Sabetha, KS to Cyrus & Mary (Finical) Helphingstine. She married the love of her life, Howard K. Merriam June 5, 1942. They spent the next 44 years in wedded bliss until Howard was called home in 1986. Hope is survived by her children Robert Merriam of Prescott Valley, Pamela Edwards of Prescott Valley, Alan (JoAnn) Merriam of Waynesville, NC, and daughter-in-law Charlotte. She is also survived by her grandchildren Sydney, Scott, and Daniel; and great-grandchildren Quinton, Christian, Elizabeth, Olivia, Michael, and Ethan. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, son Tim, and her brother Kenneth. Hope loved nature and all that was around her including flowers and birds and animals. She loved reading. She was extremely proud of her family and all that they accomplished. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Hope’s name to the American Cancer Society.
