Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona, Tuesday, June 16, 2015 Freddie C. Ramos, 89 Freddie C. Ramos of Globe, Ariz. passed away at the age of 89 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. on June 7, 2015. Freddie was born April 11, 1926 in Sonora, Ariz. to Juan Ramos and Ricarda Cobarrubias. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Arnold Ramos; and his sister, Angela Dominguez. Freddie was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the 11th Airborne Division. He fought bravely in the Philippines during the war. After the war Freddie began working for Inspiration Consolidated Copper both underground and in the open pit mines. In 1968 Freddie went overseas to Vietnam to work construction during the war. Upon returning, he once again was employed with Inspiration Consolidated Copper, as well as owning and operating the UN Bar in Miami, Ariz. During this time, Freddie sponsored the Miami Sawaia’s Fast pitch Softball team that went on to win the National Championship in 1977, with Freddie accompanying them and cheering the team on. In 1978, he once again went overseas for construction work. However, this time it was Saudi Arabia, where he spent two years. After returning to the states, Freddie began a long career in law enforcement. First, working as a deputy with the Gila County Sherriff’s Office and later serving as town Constable for many years. He then returned to the Sherriff’s Office as a deputy and later served as a bailiff for the Honorable Gary Goetteman. While working in law enforcement, Freddie received numerous certificates and accommodations for his exceptional service. All of his life, Freddie was an active member of the Globe/Miami community and in his later years spent countless hours volunteering at the local Senior Citizens Centers. Freddie loved to talk and everywhere he went would stop and talk with the many people, young and old, who knew and loved him. He was an incredible story teller and had a wealth of information about the people and the history of Globe/Miami. Freddie is survived by his younger sister, Lillie Bravo; his children, John Ramos, Rosanna Ramos, Robert Ramos, Djuna Ramos Walling and Deyon Ramos; as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Freddie C. Ramos lived an amazing life, was an exceptional person and could easily be called “the most interesting man in the world.” He was loved by those who knew him and will be greatly missed. Thank you Freddie for all of the smiles, stories and good times you gave us while you were here. Services were held Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Bulman Miles Funeral Services in Globe, Ariz. There was a public viewing at 10 a.m. with the memorial service at 11 a.m. After the service, there was a reception at the Globe Elks Lodge. Online guestbook at www.bulmanmiles.com.
