The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Wednesday, July 01, 2015 Ellen Mae Oliver, age 97, passed away June 17 at her home in Congress. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jacob Oliver. She is survived by her children, Jackie Oliver of Congress, Steve (Shirley) Oliver of Congress, and Bruce (Terry) Oliver of Wickenburg. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Nash (Adria) Oliver, Amber (Kevin) Grantham, and Sarah Oliver all of Wickenburg, and great-grandsons, Wyatt, Tel, Blaine and Coy Grantham, and Elias, Jacob, and Noah Oliver, all of Wickenburg. Ellen is also survived by two sisters, Louise Robinson of Dallas, Texas, and Dolly Marr of Austin, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. Ellen was born in Port Lavaca, Texas, on March 29, 1918, to Rudolph and Annie Geryk. She was a ranch wife for over 50 years, and had lived in Congress for the last 54 years. She worked at the Bluebonnet Ordinance Plant in McGregor, Texas, making bombs during World War II. In Congress she worked on the election board for more than 30 years, was a member and past president of the Congress Bells, worked with the Food Plus Program, and volunteered at the Congress Community Center. Ellen liked all animals, traveling, visiting with friends, drinking coffee with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards, eating sweets, taking care of her house plants and yard work, football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the New York Yankees baseball team. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. A private grave side service was held for the family on June 24. A memorial service will be held at the Wickenburg Country Club, Saturday, July 25 at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. Instead of flowers, the family is requesting monetary or can food donations to the Wickenburg Cap Office. Donations can be made at the memorial service.
