ORDWAY, Nancy

Norvel Owens Mortuary, Flagstaff, Arizona Nancy Ordway, 90, died June 22, 2015 at the Peaks Senior Living Community in Flagstaff. She was born in Portland, Oregon, and spent her childhood in Oregon, Washington, and California. She graduated from Stanford University, where she met her future husband, William. They were married in 1947, and began their married life in California. The family moved to Arizona in 1957, and lived in several Arizona towns and cities before eventually settling in the Phoenix area. Nancy and William lived in Phoenix for 35 years before moving to Flagstaff 5 years ago to be near their daughter. Nancy loved to read and travel, and after her daughters left home, she did a lot of volunteer work. She greatly enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and her home was always a gathering place during holidays for friends and relatives. She was a warm generous, funny, kind person and her smile could light up a room. She was loved by all who knew her, and she was a very loving wife and mother. She and her husband had the kind of marriage everyone hopes for - they were very loving and devoted to each other for 64 years. She is predeceased by her husband William Ordway, and is survived by her two daughters, Sue Ordway (Drifter Smith) and Kathy (Dave) Butler. There will be a memorial service at the Peaks on June 26 at 1:00 p.m. Donations in her name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
