(Maiden Name: Kearns)

Patricia Ann Purdin peacefully passed away at home in Chino Valley, Arizona, surrounded by her family on June 19, 2015. She was born in Pensacola, Florida, on Oct. 16, 1940, to Norman and Sarah Kearns.
As a young girl, Pat moved to New Orleans, Louisiana with her parents and remained there until her young adulthood. At the age of 22, she relocated to Douglas, Arizona. And then, later relocated again to Prescott, and finally to Chino Valley, where she remained until her passing.
Pat worked for U.S. Motors beginning in 1975. She remained there for five years and met Daniel, the love of her life. They married in 1977 and relocated from Prescott to Chino Valley. In 1980, Pat became the District Secretary for Chino Valley School District and remained there for 22 years. She retired in 2002.
She was very passionate about her community as well as education. The contributions Pat provided to her community are too many to list. To name just a couple, she served on the Chino Valley Town Council for several years and helped spearhead the town getting the community swimming pool and the park where the town library is located. She was also the Director of the Chino Valley Adult Literacy Program, also known as VICTORY Adult Education Center. This non-profit program assisted people in basic education such as reading, writing and math. It was also a program that provided tutoring for those seeking to achieve their GED as well as learn the English language.
She assisted many people in becoming educated and gainfully employed so that they could contribute to their families as well as their community. She never did anything unless she believed in it with all her heart.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; her baby sister; and two brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Purdin of 38 years; five children; several grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
Services will be at noon on July 18, 2015, at St. Catherine LaBoure Catholic Church, 2062 N. Highway 89, in Chino Valley with a gathering of family and friends immediately following.
May you forever rest in peace, mom. We love you and we will miss you.
