Mysterious Death -
A death occurred last night at 10:30 o'clock at the county hospital about which there seems to be some mystery.
The deceased is George Briot (sic), of Skull valley, a native of France, about seventy-five years old, but who has resided in Arizona for the last quarter of a century or more. He was a quite and inoffensive old man. He was in Prescott last week, on business, returning to Skull valley Thursday evening. He stopped for the night at the residence of a neighbor, going to his home Friday morning. On Sunday evening, just before sundown, he was found by W. H. Dickson and his son, with one side of his face skinned and bruised, one eye blackened and a scratch on top of his head, lying on the floor of his cabin, in a perfectly nude condition. Other neighbors were called in and every care possible was taken of him during the night. On being asked how he happened in this condition he seemed to become greatly excited and tried to talk, but could not make his answers intelligible. He was asked how long he had been there in that condition, when by signs and words, he indicated two nights and days.
On Monday he was brought to the hospital, and a countryman attempted to interview him in his native language, for the purpose of ascertaining the particulars surrounding his misfortune but failed, and he died last night, as stated, without throwing any light on it.
His remains were taken to the county undertaker. The case seems to be one of which calls for an investigation.
Since the above was in type a partial investigation was made and the physician who examined the body pronounced the bruises as having been caused by the deceased falling in convulsions.
No inquest was held and the mystery will remain a mystery.
