William Drybread (Bill) Peterson, 87, passed away on July 5, 2015 at the Hospice of the Valley. Bill was born on August 3, 1927 in Nevada, Iowa. Bill was an incredibly intelligent man who loved engineering, puzzles, playing games (especially solitaire) and watching the ASU Sun Devils play football. He attended Iowa State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. He later on went to earn a Master’s Degree in Engineering from Arizona State University. He also served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was stationed at Navy Pier, Chicago, IL. After graduating from ISU Bill accepted an engineering position with North American Aviation in Downy, California where he met and married his first wife, Dee (nee Allison). In 1956 Bill accepted a position with Motorola and moved his family to Scottsdale. In 1987 Bill married Kay (nee Clary-Moberly). He retired from Motorola in 1989. Bill enjoyed summers at his cabin near Payson, fishing with friends in Canada as well as the lakes in Arizona. He held season tickets to ASU football for over 40 years. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife Dee, his parents, brother and sister. Surviving are his 3 children, Robert (Sara) Peterson of Page, AZ; William (Ann) Peterson of Ridgecrest, CA; and Helen (David) Thompson of Chandler, AZ. Bill is also survived by his second wife, Kay; her two children, Lynn (Andrew) Rill of Long Grove, IL; Lee (Lisa) Moberly of Los Angeles, CA; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His family will celebrate his life with a private ceremony. Burial will be at Paradise Gardens at the convenience of the family.
