Kaynetta Lynne Slade, 63, died peacefully Thursday, June 18, 2015, with family by her side in Gilbert. She was born Sept. 10, 1951, in Springerville, the daughter of Erastus Kay Slade and Inez Laverne Lee Slade.
Kaynetta spent her childhood in Eagar where she attended Round Valley High School and performed at all the home games with her baton twirling, most times with the ends of the baton on fire.
She was a fun and loving mother to three children, Stephen Boyd Gillespie of Scottsdale, Peggy Lynn Christopherson of Queen Creek and Russell Bruce Wenzlau of Las Vegas.
Kaynetta loved to travel and made several trips to climb Machu Picchu which she loved. She designed and pieced beautiful quilts with a perfection that few could match. This perfectionism carried over into her crocheting and stunning handiwork on numerous embroidered items. Kaynetta was so excited when she would discover a new exotic recipe and would spend hours in the kitchen. Reading was a passion, through which she visited the world.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many different callings throughout her life, with her favorite being as a Sunday School teacher to 13- and 14-year-olds.
She was a devoted daughter who loved and cared for her parents in their elder years.
Kaynetta is survived by her three children, eight grandchildren, father and siblings Keith of Orem, Utah, Peggy of Richfield, Utah Leon of Eagar and Robin of Mesa.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Graveside services were held June 24 at the Eagar Cemetery.
