Jean Ellen Butler, 90, died Tuesday morning, July 7, 2015, at her home in Show Low from causes incident to her age. She was born, as a twin daughter, July 11, 1924, in Long Beach, Calif., to the late Raymond Daniel Sr. and Ruby Ellen (Densel) McCurdy.
At the age of 2, she moved with her family to Fontana, Calif., where she went to school. Following high school, Jean married and began her family, having three children. She later gave birth to her fourth child and moved to Show Low.
Jean worked for the public schools as a cafeteria worker. She then worked with the Meals on Wheels program until her retirement in 1993.
Following her retirement, she took art and quilting classes at Northland Pioneer College. She also sang with the White Mountain Chorale and made many friends in the process. She was blessed with a “green thumb” and enjoyed gardening.
Jean was mother to her four children, Richard Schritchfield, Steven Raymond Schritchfield, Donna Jean Keith and Gerald Butler. She was a sister to her two brothers, Kenneth McCurdy, Raymond Daniel McCurdy Jr. and her twin sister, Josephine Canna. She was also a grandmother to eight and great-grandmother to many.
Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, July 10, at the Downtown Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 300 N. 11th St., in Show Low, where the visitation will begin one hour prior.
The concluding service and interment will immediately follow at the Show Low Cemetery.
