Charles "Chuck" Solvay ,84, passed away on July 11, 2015. Born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on Jan. 18, 1931, he was one of 11 children.
Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952. He graduated from Pittsburgh School of Design. All of his professional career, Chuck was an Interior Decorator for Barrow's Fine Furniture in Prescott, Arizona. He was a lifetime member of the Lions Club International; holding many positions including District Governor from 1996 to 1997. Throughout his life, Chuck served his church and community.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Shirley Solvay of 43 years.
He is survived by his wife Anita Solvay of Goodyear; three sisters Julia Plevel, Majorie Nicols, René Green; four children David Solvay, Sharon (Ron) Middlebrook,
Cynthia (Matthew) Scheller, and Sara (Tim) Johnson; and six grandchildren Sara (15), Matthew Jr. (14), John (12), Megan (11) Scheller and Caroline (14), Jack (9) Johnson.
A rosary will be recited on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 7 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Mortuary, 9925 W. Thomas Road, Avondale, Arizona. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 11 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 13720 W. Thomas Road, Avondale, Arizona.
Chuck will be laid to rest with Shirley in a private service at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Grade School at the above address.
