Arrangements by Affordable Burial & Cremation, LLC. ~~~~~~~ The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Wednesday, August 12, 2015 Mrs. Hope Maughan (Dortsch) died peacefully at home on July 27, 2015 in Prescott Valley, Arizona at the age of 88. Hope is survived by her husband of 68 years, Bill; and her children, Kristine and Tom Parker, Onda Maughan, Karen and Joe Eulate; grandchildren, Keith and Jenn Killeen, Jeff and Cory Killeen, Kimberly Maughan;, Mikaela and Brad Rood, Rebecca and Reese Quinto, Daniel Maughan, Brooke Eulate, Paige and Shea Sheppard, and Kellen Eulate. Mrs. Maughan is also survived by great grandchildren, Peighton Killeen, Darby, Joey and Abbey Killeen, William, Emilia and Gabriel Rood. Additionally, Hope is survived by her brother, Lee "Cobber" Dortsch. She is preceded in death by her precious son, Michael Maughan (Onda). Hope was born on Oct. 13, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Leo and Ruth Dortsch, the youngest of six children. Hope married Bill, her high school sweetheart, in 1947. From there Hope and Bill shared a military life in the United States Marine Corps until 1966, when Bill retired and they relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona. They settled in Prescott Valley in the late 1980s. Hope was a strong nurturer to her family and community, providing love and friendship to all she met. She volunteered in each community she lived in serving as President of the Officer's Wives Club; Red Cross Volunteer; Girl Scout Leader; Sunday School Teacher; and a variety of other duties. The delight of her life was her faith and her family. A memorial is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015 at the Prescott Free Methodist Church, 2797 Willow Creek Road, Prescott, Arizona, with a reception to follow. Dr. Harvey Kemp, long-time friend and minister of Hope and Bill, will officiate the worship service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Hope's life.
