The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Wednesday, August 05, 2015 Linda Faye Dowd, 70, of Mesa, Arizona passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 in Mesa following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Prescott, Arizona in 1944. Linda grew up and attended elementary through high school in Prescott. She then attended college at Northern Arizona University where she studied Education and received her Bachelor of Science Degree. She also received a Master of Arts Degree with an endorsement of English as a Second Language from Arizona State University. Her teaching career included teaching English in a Woman's Correctional Facility, at Veterans Affairs, at Mesa Community College, and finally at Phoenix Community College. She was well respected by her colleagues and adored by her students. She was always available to them and worked diligently on her own time to make sure they would succeed. Linda was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and friend. Her interests were classical music, gardening, arts and crafts shows, teddy bears and collecting anything that had to do with sea turtles. She loved to stay current by watching PBS and reading the New York Times. She loved nature and provided support to many nature based organizations. She is survived by her husband, Sid Dowd; daughter, Dawn Klock; mother, Doris Postle; and grandson, Jacob Klock. She was preceded in death by her father Leonard Jacobs. A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 15, 2015 at Prescott Community Church, 3151 Willow Springs Road, Prescott, Arizona. Information provided by survivors.
