Helen Sciarrillo, 90, passed away July 22, 2015 in Dewey, Arizona with her family by her side.
She was born June 6, 1925 in La Veta, Colorado to Mildred (Valentine) and Joseph Helzer.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, sister Cleo, brother Wilford, first husband Clyde Luckinbill and second husband Frank Sciarrillo.
She is survived by her daughters Paula (Steve) Greenaway, Sharon (Ron) Schmedes; son, David (Leah) Sciarrillo; many grandchildren, great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Love of children made her a wonderful mother and favorite
aunt. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren adored her. We all knew her as sweet, full of life and eternally optimistic.
She enjoyed being in the middle of many projects. Painting was one of her loves and her family treasures her art.
Helen crocheted mostly every day and donated blankets, scarves and hats to children and veterans in need.
She worked for Lockheed in the early 1950s and in her later years worked at Joslin's Department Store energetically assisting customers.
Well known for her cooking, she was happiest preparing her favorite Italian dishes for family and friends, being sure they didn't go home without a container of her delicious food.
She gave generously of her time putting others ahead of her own needs.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Pines for their professional and personal care given to her during this time.
