Ellen Chapman
On Wednesday morning, July 29th, Ellen Chapman passed away after a long and courageous battle with emphysema surrounded by the loving caregivers at The Hillsman House, who had been thoughtfully attending to her needs for the past year and a half. Ellen was 84 years old.
Ellen was born on December 7, 1930 in Illinois. She was the 2nd child of Emma and John Ansley. Ellen moved to California in the 1950s where she attended Cal State Los Angeles, earning a Master's Degree in Nursing, while she worked and raised 5 children.
In 1977 Ellen met and married the love of her life, Paul Chapman. When Paul retired in 1980, they moved to Cornville Arizona where Ellen worked as an RN at Cottonwood Memorial Hospital.
As Paul began to have serious health issues, they moved from Cornville to Cottonwood to be closer to the hospital. After several years, Ellen retired from the hospital and her and Paul lived in their home in Cottonwood until health issues made it necessary to move to the Hillsman House in Feb 2014.
Ellen is survived by her 3 children, 3 step children, 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 21st at 11am at Verde Valley Christian Church 406 S. 6th Street, Cottonwood AZ 86326. (928) 634-8166
