Henry “Hank” Sostrom, age 79, passed away Aug. 15, 2015. Hank was born in 1936 to John and May Holmberg Sostrom. He moved to Globe in 2010 from Cody, Wyo. In 1955, Hank and his new family moved to Laramie, Wyo., where he had worked for the Forest Service.
He joined the National Guard and soon landed a job with the Wyoming Highway Department, where he spent much of his time constructing I-80 in the Laramie District. His Civil Engineering and RLS licenses in four Western states took him to new construction adventures in road, bridge and dam building through out his career until his retirement in 2008 at the age of 72.
Hank was a life-long member of the NRA. He was active in Boy Scouts as a scoutmaster and helped shape young lives into productive citizens. He loved camping and hunting with his family.
Hank’s life was cut short by Alzheimer’s and he died with family at his side. He is missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Glennis Raymond Sostrom; sons, Carl (Linda) of Post Falls, Idaho, Frank (Denise) of San Marcos, Calif., Eric (Carolyn) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; daughter, Shannon (Dale) Coons of Globe, Ariz.; brothers, Jack (Shirley) of Greenville, S.C., Nels (Anne) of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Len (Norah) of Casa Grande, Ariz; sister, Anna (Mike) Wingert of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and May Sostrom of Riverton, Wyo.; son, Frederick in Slidell, La. In 2009.
A memorial service is being planned for the fall in Yuma, Ariz. and next summer in Riverton, Wyo.
