The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Saturday, June 27, 2015 Kathryn Faye Mandel Saturday, June 20, 2015 Kathryn Faye Mandel came to the decision that 5,780 days apart from her husband was long enough. On this day, in Alameda, California, she peacefully took her last breath at the age of 85, surrounded by her granddaughters Rachel Alegria and Chelsea Apperson. We are comforted knowing that she has reunited with her parents Mary Bell Johnson & William Boyd Spain, her daughter Suzanne Peterson, grandson Aaron Peterson, the love of her life/husband Murray Mandel, and many other loved ones she lost along the way, including her beloved pets. Kathryn, aka "Kay" & "Grandma," a Texas native, who resided in Cottonwood from 1993 to 2002, is survived by her aforementioned granddaughters, Deane Apperson (son), Roxanne Richter (daughter), Rand Richter & Dustin Peterson (grandsons), John Peterson (son-in-law), Dawn Grove (daughter-in-law), Yuri Alegria (grandson-in-law), Yoselin Alegria (great-granddaughter), and many beloved Apperson, Spain and Johnson family members throughout Arizona, Illinois and Texas. Heaven is truly blessed with another angel. Rest in peace, until we meet again. A small memorial will be held in the Verde Valley on December 22, 2015. Information provided by survivors.
