Larry Heckman, 73, longtime resident of Cordes Lakes, Arizona, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at the Marley House Hospice in Prescott, Arizona.
He is survived by his two sons, Cliff Heckman and Mark Heckman; two brothers, Trevan Woolbright Jr. and Garry Woolbright; sister Roxanne Woolbright; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Larry was born in Clarion, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 21, 1941. His family moved to Happy Jack Arizona in 1946 and shortly after relocated to Flagstaff, Arizona, where he graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1959.
He began his career with the Arizona Department of Transportation as a surveyor, where he worked on the Interstate 17 project between Flagstaff and Phoenix. Larry also worked as a surveyor in the Republic of Zaire, Africa; Coronado Generating Station; and the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant. He was a self-taught civil engineer and upon his return to ADOT, he retired as the District Engineer for the Cordes Junction office.
He enjoyed family, his pet Sissy, reading, electronic technology, fishing, woodworking and gardening.
Larry was predeceased by his son, Larry Leland Heckman Jr.; brother Gregory Woolbright; wife Hazel Heckman; and parents Trevan Sr. and Lois Woolbright.
Memorial services will be held privately. Memorial donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Good Samaritan Society Marley House Hospice, Prescott Arizona.
