Mary Helen ("Sandy") Kunz, of Camp Verde, Arizona, passed away at age 72 on Saturday, July 18, 2015, in Chandler, Arizona, following a long illness. Sandy was born Mary Helen Jackson in Covena, Georgia, on August 29, 1942.
She lived in Hazlehurst, Georgia, and surrounding areas for many years before relocating to Arizona in 1970. After spending more than 20 years in various departments at St. Luke's Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, she retired and moved to Camp Verde, Arizona, in 1994.
In Camp Verde, Sandy was involved in the VFW Ladies'
Auxiliary and enjoyed various local activities with her partner Donald Peterson.
Sandy was a loving mom and proud grandma, always treasuring the chance to spend time with family. Some of her other favorite things included dolphins, crossword puzzles, hummingbirds, crime mysteries, and peanut butter Snickers.
On any given game night during football season, Sandy could be heard cheering loudly for her beloved Dallas Cowboys.
Sandy is survived by her daughter Cheryl Mostrom and grandchildren Stephen, Lindsay, and Heather Mostrom, of Chandler, Arizona, and son Charles Kunz and his wife Janet, of San Tan Valley, Arizona. Additional survivors include sisters Margaret Bohannon and Imogene Jackson of Hazlehurst, Georgia, along with several nieces and nephews.
