GRAY, Alberta (Bertie)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 10/16/2015 Alberta “Bertie” Gray died Sept. 18, 2015. She was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Byers, Colo., the third of eight children. The family moved to Littleton, Colo., where she attended Littleton High School. Bertie owned and operated Woodlawn Beauty College. Throughout her life she had many jobs and was an artistic, creative lady. She lived an exciting, fun-filled life with her husband, Artie, and traveled and lived life to the fullest. Bertie was a strong woman in mind, body and soul, in family, love and faith. She survived her husband, Artie, the love of her life, who died in 1999. Bertie was living with her daughter Donna and son-in-law Johne in Show Low, where she lived for the last 10 years of her life. Bertie passed away surrounded by the love of family and friends and will be greatly missed. She is survived by one sister, Ruby Bates; one daughter, Donna Bader; son-in-law Johne Bader; stepdaughter Jackie Yancy; three grandchildren, Mike Howell, Jack Howell and Wesley Howell; and many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and wonderful friends and neighbors. Her family is thankful for the expressions of sympathy they have received during this difficult time. They are especially grateful for all of the prayers offered up in their behalf. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Owens Livingston Mortuary, White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th St., in Show Low.
