The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 10/16/2015 Leonard Neilo Rogers, 93, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at his home in Nutrioso. He was born Aug. 8, 1922, in Nutrioso, the son of Hyrum Floyd and Arizola Martha Sharp Rogers. Leonard served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946 during World War II and was always proud of his service to his country. He was a loving family man who was born and lived and died within a three-mile radius in Nutrioso. Leonard was a carpenter in the White Mountains for over 70 years and built his last home in the area when he was 82. He was retired but never stopped building things. Leonard is survived by his wife, Phyllis Rogers of Nutrioso; sons Brad (Sandy) Rogers of Nutrioso and Leonard Rogers Jr. of Pinetop; daughter Sherry Rogers (Terry) Reidhead of Nutrioso; brothers Larry Rogers of Eagar, Bob Rogers of Springerville; grandchild Jeannie McCall of Phoenix; and great-grandchildren Ashton McCall and Alyssa Crawford, both of Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lela Jean Haws Rogers, grandson Shawn McCall, twin brother Richard Rogers, eldest brother Leo Rogers, sister Isabelle Brockman and younger brother Jim Rogers. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. held Friday, Oct. 16, at the Rogers Cemetery in Nutrioso. Interment will follow services.
