Angus Phillip Chadwick (known as Phillip), 78, of Phoenix died Wednesday, Oct. 15, at his home. He was born Jan. 17, 1937, in Prescott to Sara Brown-Chadwick and Angus L. Chadwick.
Phillip grew up in Flagstaff where he graduated from Flagstaff High School and continued on to receive a degree in engineering from Arizona State College (now Northern Arizona University). Phillip worked for the Arizona State Highway Department (now known as ADOT) in Flagstaff, and was instrumental in surveying the new I-17 highway at Munds Park, just south of Flagstaff.
After transferring to Phoenix in 1961, Phil worked for ADOT’s Phoenix Maintenance District Lab 1. Towards the end of his ADOT career, Phil was elected as president of the Arizona Highway Department Chapter of the Arizona Public Employee’s Association. Phillip retired from ADOT after 34 years of loyal service.
Phillip married Martha Stribling in August 1957 and they had three children. They were married 27 years. Phillip loved and was extremely proud of his children. He loved fishing, old movies and collecting historic artifacts. He was a native Arizonian.
Phillip is survived by his son, Don Angus of Phoenix; daughter Cheryl Ann of Show Low and Lori Wynn Kilcoin of Taylor; grandchildren Don A. Chadwick Jr. of Phoenix and Jeffrey David Kilcoin of Show Low; and great-grandchildren Cadence Marie Chadwick and Skylar Lynn Kilcoin; siblings sister Sara Diane Chadwick-Brown and brother John Myron (Beth) Chadwick.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, in the Fredonia cemetery, under the direction of the Mosdell Mortuary. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
