Allen Lemoyne Caldwell, 84, died peacefully at his home on October 7, 2015. Lemoyne was born July 9, 1931 to Edward Dahl Caldwell and Una May Jensen Caldwell in Cardston, Alberta, Canada. Lemoyne was the third of eight children. He was raised in Cardston with his family where he enjoyed all kinds of activities with his family and friends. Some of his accomplishments during this time were earning his pilot’s license and setting up power polls to help bring electrical power to rural Alberta.
As a young man Lemoyne served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the “African” mission. He served in both South Africa and Rhodesia. Upon his return from his mission he immigrated to the United States to go to school at Brigham Young University. While at school, he met the love of his life Mary Jean Walker; they were married on September 23, 1957, in the Salt Lake City Temple. During their married life, as their family grew, the couple lived in Utah, Alberta, Missouri, Kansas, and Arizona.
In 1969, Lemoyne moved his family to Snowflake, Arizona where he became a partner in Snowflake Pig Farms. After moving to Arizona his family grew to ten children. Lemoyne enjoyed long road trips and water activities. Lemoyne always enjoyed involving as many family members and friends as possible on his adventures. For several years Lemoyne spent many weeks during the summers at Lake Powell on his houseboat, “Boss Hog.”
Lemoyne was always an active member of his church. He loved to serve and had the opportunity to serve in many callings. After his retirement he sold his houseboat and again served the Lord on a two year mission for the LDS church in the Johannesburg, South Africa Mission; this time with his wife as his companion.
Lemoyne was preceded in death by one son, Matthew; both of his parents; sisters, Nada Morgan and Nedra Caldwell; and a brother, DeLynn Caldwell.
Lemoyne leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Mary Jean; ten children and their spouses; Mike (Tina) Caldwell, Keith (Marie) Caldwell, Susan (Mark,) Lee, Valerie (Roy) Hunt, Brian (Kristi) Caldwell, Jennefer (Roger) Dayton, Cathe (Craig) Williams, Paul (Brenna) Caldwell, Aaron (Mindy) Caldwell and Holly (Nate) Shaw; 46 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is survived by four Brothers, Jim, Duane (Bud,) Ray and Gary.
Funeral services will be held on October 17, 2015, at 10:00 A.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Snowflake Main Street Chapel. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Also a viewing will be held Friday October 16, 2015, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Main Street Church Relief Society room.
Lemoyne was a strong man; he not only had physical strength, but he was strong in his faith and in his character. During the last few weeks of his life, Lemoyne’s physical strength was taken from him, but his strong character and strong faith remained and now is a shining example for all those who knew and loved him. We miss you Dad.
