SLATT, Emil (Red) Junior


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Wednesday, November 04, 2015 Emil “Red” Junior Slatt passed away in his home in Circle City, Ariz., on Oct. 19 from complications of diabetes. His wife and daughter were with him. Red was born on June 9, 1931 in Craig, Neb. He is survived by Bonnie, his wife of 36 years and his children, Randy, Ron, Becky and a brother, Jerry Slatt. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Cindy, Denny, Danny and Kevin. His daughter Kathy, a brother Jim and sister Alice all preceded Red in death. Red was in the Navy during the Korean War, from 1951 to 1955. After the service, he went to work at Union Pacific Railroad and retired in 1991 as a locomotive engineer after 37 years with the railroad. Red married Bonnie Baker in 1979 in Aloha, Ore. After he retired, he and Bonnie had a summer home in Tillamook, Ore., and wintered in Bouse, Ariz. In 2004, they moved to Circle City, Ariz. Red was a member of Kellis Draper American Legion Post 12. Red loved hunting and fishing with his railroad buddies and his sons. He enjoyed RVing and the outdoors and he loved to go on long ATV rides with Bonnie and friends.
