Carl Monroe Fletcher Jr., 90 years young of Globe, Ariz. fell asleep in death on Nov. 4, 2015.
He was born on May 18, 1925 in Brownwood, Texas, the son of Carl and Bertha Fletcher. He was the oldest of three children.
On Aug. 3, he married Ollie Lou Baker; their love for one another never waned; they shared 69 years together. They truly enjoyed one another and shared many of the same interests such as camping, fishing and going to old fiddlers contest.
In the 1940s, he started as a boiler maker’s helper alongside his father for the Santa Fe Railroad. As time went and various trades, he settled into the grocery business and ended up in management.
He always told the story of his in-laws challenging his manhood since there weren’t any grandchildren as quickly as they thought there should be, but he would have the last laugh. The first were twins, and boys at that. He thought he had proven them wrong; three more sons came along after that. He enjoyed all 5 of his sons at times; Ollie thought she had six sons. They all had precious memories of the time they spent with their father.
He was known for his sense of humor, and he never met a stranger he didn’t put all at ease. He made you feel special and reassured.
In 1963, he chose to dedicate himself by water baptism and become one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. As a student of the bible, he looked forward to the Lord’s Prayer being fulfilled and the blessing that God’s Kingdom would bring to the earth. One aspect he looked forward to the words in Job 14:15, when God by means of his son would bring back those who are in his memory and to see them live on earth again. As well as John 5: 28, “For the hour is coming in which all those that are in the grave will hear his voice.” His hope was PARADISE EARTH!
Carl dearly loved his eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was always there!
He is survived by his five sons: Val (Armida), Phil (Lynn), Dale (Cindy), Chris (Lisa L.), and Keith (Lori); and three sisters, Betty Norte, Kay Brown and Patsy Wardlow.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie and grandson, Travis Fletcher.
He requested no formal services.
