Donald G. Woolley was born March 11, 1933 in Ronald, WA. He attended schools in Ronald and Seattle, graduating from Cle Elum High School in 1951. After graduation he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served during the Korean conflict.
Upon his return he married Hilda M. Woodward of Roslyn on April 2, 1955.
Together they had three children, Don Jr., Michael, and Carrie. Don attended Central Washington State College earning a B.A. in education in 1960. As a college student Don ran for and won a position on the Ronald School Board, a first in Washington State. Don went on to earn a Master Degree in Education Administration in 1965 at the same time earning his Principal and Superintendent credentials.
After teaching elementary school for 5 years Don was selected as Principal of Cle Elum-Roslyn Elementary School. In 1976 he was appointed Superintendent of Schools for the Cle Elum-Roslyn School District and held that position for 12 years until his retirement in 1988.
Don and Hilda enjoyed traveling and spent many winters in Arizona where they enjoyed the company of their many friends.
They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary earlier this year. They recently moved to Gig Harbor, WA to be closer to family.
He was proceeded in death by parents Don and Margaret (Markovich) Woolley, and sisters Wanda Bates and Nadine Ueland.
He is survived by his wife Hilda of Gig Harbor, WA; son Don Jr. of Cottonwood, AZ; son Mike (and Cathi) Woolley of North Bend, WA; daughter Carrie (and John) Cullum of Edmonds, WA and grandchildren Emily and Brian Woolley. Also niece Joyce (and John) Casassa of Seattle, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Don had requested no public service, and suggested any donations be sent to the Ronald Community Club.
