KVOOL, RET. USAF, James Edward (Jim)


The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona, Saturday, November 07, 2015 James Edward (Kvool) Hall, Ret. USAF, passed away at the age of 86 on October 20th in Olympia, WA from complications of Parkinson's disease with family at his side. Jim moved to Olympia in April 2014 to be closer to family caregiving. Jim was born in Humbird, WI. to Herman and Alice Kvool. He spent the majority of his boyhood in Seattle. He joined the Air Force at age 17 initially receiving pilot training before assuming a career as a musician where he was a master at the trombone. His military career allowed him to travel the world with Air Force bands until settling and raising his family in Phoenix, Az. in 1968. He retired from Luke Air Force Base shortly thereafter. Jim was preceded in death by his former wife (Charlotte Kvool) both of who were the founders of Classic Realty in Phoenix in 1969. He continued his real estate career for another 35 years. He was a past member of the Phoenix Elks Lodge and an avid long time lapidary hobbyist and rock hound. He continued to play and compose music well into his 80's performing with the Cottonwood, AZ Community Band from 2010-2012 where he resided. Jim composed his last orchestra at age 81 entitled "The Fort Whipple March", dedicating it to all Veterans and their families. He is survived by his four daughters; Karen of Peoria, AZ, Alison of San Antonio, TX, Rhea of Phoenix AZ and Valerie of Olympia, WA. He was blessed with 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews in Oregon and Idaho. Jim will be interned with military honors on Nov. 17th, 11:00 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery located at 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85024. In lieu of floral the family requests donations be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation (NPF) or the Disabled American Veterans Association (DAV) in his name.
