Jean Porter passed away at her home in Heber, Arizona. She went home to be with the Lord on October 25, 2015.
She was born in Holbrook, AZ to Hyrum Guy and Alice May DeSpain on June 4, 1929. She lived her entire life in the Holbrook, Heber and Snowflake communities. Jean Married her only sweetheart, Cyril Porter, in 1945 in the Mesa, Arizona temple. They were blessed with 2 children .
She was a lifelong, faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and her husband and children were sealed as a family for time and all Eternity. During her life she was a scout master and served with her husband Cyril. She was also a cub scout leader, choir director, a faithful visiting teacher and a relief society president. In their later life Jean and Cyril served an honorable mission in England.
She is survived by her 2 sons: John Porter of McGehee , Arkansas and Joe Porter of Heber, AZ.; 1 Granddaughter: Shawna Hall of Taylor, AZ; 3 great grandchildren Trevor, Trenton and Natalie, and 1 great-great grand daughter: Hallie. She is also survived by 1 brother: Marion DeSpain, a host of nieces, nephews and many close friends. Jean was known to everyone as “Aunt Jean”.
She is preceded in death by her Husband Cyril, her parents Hyrum and Alice May DeSpain and 2 sisters: Rachel and Sheila.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Heber, Arizona chapel.
There will be a visitation with the family one hour prior to the services at 9:00 AM at the same location.
