Virgle Ray Mooney, 90, passed away Sept. 20, 2015 in Lake Havasu
City.
He was born to Mollie Melvina and Abner Mooney March 16, 1925 in
Shawnee, Okla. He wed Dorothy Juanita Center March 14, 1952 in
Sanger, Calif. They were married for 63 years.
Virgle was employed at Southern Pacific Railroad for 34 years. He
owned a productive vineyard and belonged to the Sun Maid co-op.
Virgle was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a jack-of-all-
trades. He could restore just about anything that caught his
interest, a real handyman extraordinaire.
Virgle was an Elder at New Hope Calvary Church in Desert Hills and
was an active member and deacon for 40 years in Southern Baptist
Churches of Fresno, Calif. He was generous and a handyman to widows
and orphans.
Virgle is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mooney of Lake Havasu City;
daughter, Teri J. Lacasse of Lake Havasu City; brother, Harold
Mooney of Clovis, Calif.; sister, Darlene Mooney of Fresno, Calif.;
grandchildren, John, Nicole and Karrah and great-grandchildren Ben,
Cassie, Jordan and Aaron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mollie and Abner Mooney.
A graveside service is set for 10 a.m., Friday at Lake Havasu
Memorial Gardens, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at New
Hope Calvary Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one’s charity of
choice, New Hope Calvary Church or Hospice of Havasu.
Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and
Crematory.
