Katy Gibbons Lee, 95, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, in St. Johns. She was born Jan. 13, 1920, in Taylor, the daughter of Marion Vinson and Mary Jane Gibbons Hatch.
Katy was a teacher’s aide for St. Johns High School. She married Arlo B. Lee, Aug. 10, 1940, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple Aug. 14, 1940. Katy was loved by her many grandchildren and was an exceptional writer and vocalist. She was well known for her sharp sense of humor.
Katy is survived by her sons, Arlo Vinson Lee of Peoria, Howard Neil Lee of St. Johns, Larry Van Lee of Bloomfield, N.M., and Ronald John Lee of St. Johns; daughters Cheryl Ann Smith of St. Johns and Mary Frances Brower of St. Johns; brothers Jack V. Gibbons and Robert Gibbons; sisters-in-law Yvonne Gibbons and Joanne Gibbons; 42 grandchildren; 175 great grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2004; brothers Marion Gibbons and Val Max Gibbons; and sisters Helen Campbell, Norma Johns and LaVelle DeSpain.
A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at Burnham Mortuary in St. Johns. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, St. Johns Stake Center, with visitation one hour prior.
Interment will follow services at the St. Johns Westside Cemetery.
