John Norman Chase, 87, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Nov. 14, 2015.
He was born to Ted and Ruth Chase on Feb. 22, 1928, in Glendale, California, but moved with his family to Prescott in 1947, where he graduated from Prescott High School. That same year, he entered Arizona State College in Flagstaff.
Mr. Chase married Linda Jane Chase (Stern) on Oct. 22, 1955, at the United Methodist Church in Prescott.
His family writes that, "John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and in-law. He was joyful, loved to dance and sing and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him."
He was fondly known to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Pappy."
Mr. Chase served for many years in the Arizona National Guard before being honorably discharged. He volunteered for the Sharlot Hall Museum and sang in the choir at Prescott Community Church, something his family said was very important to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Don Chase.
Mr. Chase is survived by his wife; his sister, Carol Wallace; his children, Dennis (Grace) Chase, Daniel (Sandra) Chase and Anne (Terry) Hurt; his grandchildren, Alisha (Andrew), Anthony (Jacqulyn), Travis, Preston, Tyler (Jessica), Kendra, Jaclyn, Dennis and Jason; and his great-grandchildren, Deirdre, Kathryn, McKenzie, Tayden, Ethan, Kyra, Levi and Mollie.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at the United Methodist Church in Prescott.
