Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published on December 9, 2015 - Veva Marie Day, 76, Lake Havasu City, passed away Dec. 5, at home surrounded by family. Veva was born Jan. 5, 1939 in Slick, Okla. to Desma and Jessie (Whisenhunt) Smith. She graduated from Leuzinger High School in Hawthorne, Calif. She married Ernest Day in 1981 and continued to live in California, raising their family. She also had her daughter and grandson live next door so she could help raise her grandson Joey. They continued to live in Chino Hills for 31 years, until Ernest passed away in 2011. Veva then moved to Lake Havasu City to be by her daughter, grandson and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Nick) Chavez, Lake Havasu City; grandson Billy Joe Day, Lake Havasu City; three great- grandchildren Brenden Day, Austin Day and Makayla Day; three siblings Mary Copenhaven, Phoenix, Charlotte Mullins, Wheelersburg, Ohio, Ronnie Smith, Clovis, Calif. A funeral service is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Lake Havasu Mortuary Chapel with a visitation from noon to 1 p.m. Burial will be at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.
