LONGAKER, Jackson (Jack)

Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published on December 9, 2015 - Jackson “Jack” Longaker, Lake Havasu City, passed away Dec. 3, 2015 at his home surrounded by family. Jack was born Nov. 13, 1942 in El Segundo, Calif. to Richard and Francis (MacDonald) Longaker. After graduating from high school, Jack and his best friend sailed to Hawaii. This was only the first of many adventures he was to experience. He met the love of his life, Joyce, on a blind date, and they were never apart after that moment. He married Joyce Marsh April 16, 1983 in Las Vegas. They made their home in Fontana, Calif. and then Marino Valley, Calif. In 1994, they retired to Lake Havasu City. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic with the water district until retiring. After retirement he was an over the road truck driver, but stopped driving because he did not like being away from Joyce. Jack enjoyed many unique hobbies and thrived at passing on his knowledge of those hobbies to his grandchildren. He loved boating, water skiing, knee boarding, and taught all of his grandchildren how to master the craft. He enjoyed prairie dog and badger hunting, and gave each of his grandkids their first gun so they too could enjoy hunting. He was a member of the NRA, enjoyed drag racing his own car, and fancied Porsches, owning three. After he was physically unable to continue physical sports, he took an interest in HAM Radios. Even after all his hobbies, his wife Joyce was still his everything. Jack is survived by his wife Joyce; son Michael Price, Joshua Tree, Calif.; daughters Debbie (Todd) Meese, Yucca Valley, Calif., Pam (James) Lambson, Missoula, Mont., and Allison Longaker; brothers William (Estellea), Oceanside, Calif., and Marcus (Cheryl), Spring, Texas; sister Rebecca Longaker, Lake Havasu City; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Ryan. A celebration of life is set for 1 p.m. Sunday at the Havasu Garden Estates Clubhouse. Arrangements are made through Lake Havasu Mortuary and Crematory.
