Tuesday, May 31, 1898, page 3, column 2
Philip Hull, an Arizona pioneer who has seen the northern part of the territory grow from a wilderness to a prosperous and promising country, died Thursday evening at 5:40 o'clock at the residence of Mrs. Dowe of Williams. Mr. Hull had been in feeble health for some time, and when last Sunday he became worse, Dr. Melick was sent for and has been in attendance since. His last illness was in the nature of paralysis.
The deceased was 87 years of age, and had seen much of early western life. Born in Ohio, he was in the '49 gold rush to California. He crossed the plains twice before he finally settled in Prescott, in 1875. He was among the first settlers in this section, and has for years been engaged in the horse business.
A widow and three sons - Joseph, Frank and William survive him.
Transcriber's note: No place of burial has been found for Mr. Hull.
