Mergenthaler passed away peacefully in his home on December 21, 2015. He was born in Flushing, NY to Elwood & Claire Mergenthaler on October 8, 1949. James (Mergy) grew up in Flushing, New York. In 1970 he married his childhood sweetheart, Sally. In 1975, James began his career as a Police Officer in New Rochelle Police Department. He retired as a police sergeant in 2005. He loved to travel and enjoy life to the fullest. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Sally. James is survived by his two sons Daniel and Michael of Redding, Connecticut, sisters Jeannie (Stanley) Munson of Presscott, Arizona and Mary (Michael) Schneider of Pasadenda, California, and a large array of wonderful friends. A Celebration of Life will be shared at a later date in New York with his family and friends.
