Accidentally Killed At Jerome
The sad news was brought to town this morning by J. McDonald, of Jerome, of the death last evening near there of Johnny Malloy. The particulars are meager and are substantially as follows: They were coupling the trail to the lead wagon on the Yager hill last night intending to go into Jerome. The trail was but twelve feet from the lead wagon in a pitch with the breaks set, Malloy attempted to make the coupling. The wagon got started and before Malloy could extricate himself he was crushed to death instantly, his head being the only part of his body caught between the two wagons. He was told to get out when the trail first started, but being accustomed to like work did not heed the warning. His skull was fractured clear around and death was instantaneous, not a word escaping his lips.
He will be remembered by many Prescottites as a driver of W. J. Mulvenon's teams, and was a good young man of whom nothing but good could be said.
His remains will be brought to town for burial when his brother, Thomas Malloy of Phenix is heard from.
Foreman Akers of the O. K. hose company, is preparing to have his company take care of the remains, and under the auspices of that company, of which he was an active member, the funeral will be held. Deceased was single and but 23 years of age.

The remains of John Malloy, the unfortunate young man, who met death so unexpectedly last Thursday night, arrived in town last evening at 8 o'clock, and were immediately taken in charge by Foreman Akers in the boys of the O. K. Hose Company, of which organization deceased was a member.
Today at 2:30 the burial took place. The entire fire department and the citizens generally, form the solemn cortege, proceeded by the band. The remains were borne to their last resting place in the hose carriage that the deceased had been so familiarly attached to. Though not a relative was present, nothing was lacking in either care or consideration for the dead.
Many floral tributes, Walden and twisted by Miss Gertie Price and Mesdames Akers, Crapo and Andrews in beautiful and appropriate designs were in the casket, while the O. K. company, to a man, rendered every service possible in duty's line and as worthy of the esteemed in which so Johnny Malloy was held in life.
The interment was in the citizens cemetery.

Transcriber's note: Even though his surname is spelled Malloy in the obituaries above I believe the correct surname is Molloy. His name is spelled Molloy on the Citizens Cemetery original plot map, the 1890 Great Register or Yavapai County, Arizona and there are several family trees on Ancestry and other websites.
