Melito (Amelia) Da La Torre

My sweet, wonderful gift — my mother, was called home to glory early in the morning on Friday, Nov. 13. She was a cancer and heart attack survivor, living 10 years plus with a continuing weakened heart. She lived life unto God to the fullest, had the best sense of humor when it came to making people laugh, a ton of stories and a love for so many in this community. Still others will also remember her as the “Franks-Jewel-Box” lady.

Please come and worship the Lord with church brothers and sisters, family and friends as we bear witness to the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 10 a.m., held at Divine Grace Presbyterian Church, 305 Live Oak St. in Miami.

We will give thanks to God for 82 years of love given and the impact she had on those nearest and dearest to her. A light luncheon will follow.

For those unable to tackle the many stairs to the main sanctuary, a small, but capable lift is available at the downstairs east entrance.

Please come early to park in a limited area for this. Also, in her honor, in lieu of flowers, she would be pleased with donations to the Divine Grace Church Bldg. Fund for the church’s roof and repair projects.

She has joined the great “cloud of witnesses” that await us all. To God be the glory.

Rev. Dr. Valerie J. De La Torre
Pulpit Supply Pastor
Divine Grace Presbyterian Church
