Nancy-Jane (Riley) Doescher

Nancy-Jane (Riley) Doescher, age 85, of Sun City, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Jan. 12, 2016, at Hospice of the Valley after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island on Dec. 2, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Eleanor (Rice) Riley. Nancy was raised in Plainville and Attleboro, Massachusetts. She married the love of her life, Richard Elton Doescher, on April 14, 1952. They raised their children, Ellen Jo and Richard Charles, in Attleboro, Massachusetts and then retired to Prescott, Arizona in 1986.

Nancy is survived by her son, Richard C. Doescher; his wife Laurie (Flaherty) Doescher of New River, Arizona. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Rosalie and Kenneth Doescher, both of New River, Arizona, Krista King of Chicago, Illinois and Julia King of Northville, Michigan. She also leaves her niece, Kristin (Strom) Curtis of Steuben, Maine; and nephews Jeff Strom and Eric Strom of North Attleboro, Massachusetts. She was predeceased by her husband Richard E. Doescher of Prescott, Arizona; daughter Ellen Jo (Doescher) Friedrich of Northville, Michigan; and sister Constance (Riley) Strom of North Attleboro, Massachusetts.

Nancy cherished time with her late husband, children, grandchildren, special friend David Tate and many friends. She enjoyed her crossword puzzles, ensuring that she completed her daily newspaper puzzle. Nancy was very active on the Sturdy Memorial Hospital volunteer committee in Attleboro, Massachusetts, was a member of the Prescott, Arizona Rotary Club and devoted her later years to spending time with her family.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Gardens of Sun City (Arizona) for their loving care to Nancy while she resided there. We are very grateful to everyone there for giving Nancy the care and attention she needed.

As Nancy wished, there will not be any memorial or religious service.

Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery in Attleboro Falls, Massachusetts will be private.
