The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Wednesday, January 13, 2016 Martha Ann Nelson, 78, of Prescott, Arizona departed this life Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016 in Prescott. She was born April 29, 1937 in Dallas, Texas to Virgil A. and Evelyn G. Roberts. Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Ann earned a B.A. degree in elementary education from the University of Texas and moved to Southern California to pursue a teaching career. There she married Ernest Schweizer and had two children, Heidi and Scott. She was widowed in 1970 and married Richard A. Nelson in 1972. The inseparable couple retired to Prescott, Arizona in 1994. She became grandmother to Gracie Schweizer in 2002. Ann contracted Multiple Sclerosis at age 25, but never spent a moment complaining and lived every day full of cheer and brightness. She loved life and brought happiness to everyone around her. She will be greatly missed by her devoted husband, children, grandchild, family and dear friends who were all just fortunate enough to have known and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents Virgil A. and Evelyn G. Roberts; sister Jane Roberts Hatley; and her first husband Ernest A. Schweizer. She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Nelson; children Heidi and Scott Schweizer; and granddaughter Gracie Schweizer. A memorial will be at a later date at the Prescott United Methodist Church.
