Arthur (Art) Fabela

Arthur (Art) Fabela born Aug. 27, 1944, in Salinas, Calif., to Manuel and Mary (Castillo) Fabela, passed away on Jan. 18, 2016. 

Art spent most of his childhood in Santa Maria, Calif., where he attended Santa Maria High School and excelled in sports. He continued his education at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he earned a bachelor of science and master of science in physical education. Art was employed as a teacher and head football coach at St. Joseph High School, in Santa Maria, and later at Arroyo Grande High School, in Arroyo Grande, Calif. Working with young adults was truly a passion and pleasure for him.



Art became an Arizona resident in 1979 locating in Yarnell. He was a small business owner for many years. 



Art is survived by his three children, Stephanie (Dan) O’Neil of the United Kingdom, Chris Fabela of Prescott Valley, and Angela (Tom) Aldridge of Prescott.

Also surviving are sisters Dolores Smith, June Rodriquez, Theresa Fabela; brother Mike Fabela; and grandchildren Derrik Fabela, Alex Fabela, Collin Aldridge and Audrey Aldridge. Art was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Mary; two brothers Manuel and Abe; two sisters Virginia and Audrey; and infant son Thomas.


Services will be held on Friday, Jan. 29, at 11 a.m. at Peeples Valley Pioneer Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to David’s Desert Chapel Funeral Home of Wickenburg.
