Harvey Jay McMains

Harvey Jay McMains went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2015.

Harvey was born in Oklahoma City in 1923 and spent his childhood as an Okie, graduating from Classen High School in 1941.

He went on to earn an engineering degree from the University of Texas in Austin and proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII.

Harvey's professional life was highlighted by a 28 year career at SW Bell and AT&T where he retired as a Vice President.

In retirement, Harvey was a published author, a respected educator, a valued consultant and an exceptional gardener.

He was particularly fond of roses.

Although Harvey had many accomplishments, his greatest was his marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Jean Adell Porter.

Harvey and Jean or Grandma and Poppee, as they are affectionately referred to by their family, were married for 70 years.

They raised 3 children, Suzanne Koudelka of Camp Verde, AZ, Mary Dencker of Milton, Delaware and Larry McMains of Newcastle, OK. Poppee is survived by his wife, Jean and their 3 children, 11 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by many friends and family members and 2 great grandchildren.
