| Prescott Morning Courier, Prescott, Arizona Territory Monday, January 26, 1905, page 3, column 1 Local News - Bert Merrill, a son of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Merrill, died in Jerome, June 24, 1905, from the affects of injuries received from the explosion of an oil tank. ------------------------ Weekly Journal Miner, Prescott, Arizona Territory Wednesday, June 28, 1905, page 4, column 2 Jerome, June 24 - Bert Merrill, who was burned several days ago in a gas explosion in an oil tank, died this after at 3:15 o'clock from the effects of his injuries. The funeral will take place tomorow (Sunday) at 2 o'clock from the residence of his parents, and the remains will be interred at Cottonwood. Much sympathy is expressed for the heart-stricken parents. ------------------------ Weekly Journal Miner, Prescott, Arizona Territory Wednesday, June 28, 1905, page 4, column 4 Laid To Rest All that was mortal of Bert Merrill was laid at rest Sunday afternoon in the Cottonwood cemetery. The funeral services were held at the residence of his parents. A large number of friends attended, and brought floral offerings which were placed on the casket. The Rev. Mr. Ocheltree preached the funeral sermon, and conducted the services.
