On Feb. 16, 2016 at 7 a.m. in Prescott Valley, Arizona, Margarete (Rita) Mary Parrish passed away. Born in New York City on Dec. 4, 1929, Rita was a true city girl through and through. However, at a young age she became enticed by the beautiful weather and allergy-free paradise of the Southwest, and she headed to Tucson, Arizona.

Little did she know her fate would be sealed by a blind-date with a handsome airman at Davis-Monthan who soon became her husband of 65 years. It is here in Arizona, they would raise their three children; Michael, Mary and Leighann.

She leaves behind her three children and daughter-in-law, Becky and son-in-law, Dale. Nothing in this world was more important to her than her four grandchildren; Tyler, Trevor, Cole and Devon. They were her everything.

Rita was involved in several charitable organizations and fundraising efforts in Yuma, Arizona. She adored her weekly golf games with the girls, and had a wicked creative streak that included stain glass design, gourmet baking, sewing and so much more.

Her kind and sweet spirit attracted many friends over the years. She gave us beauty, love and endless patience. This world may have lost a beautiful soul but our Dad, who passed away eight weeks ago, got his bride back today. Hold each other tight, for nothing can separate you now. We love you mom.
