Dollie Alsenay Nachu entered eternal rest Feb. 7, 2016, at her home in Whiteriver surrounded by her family, friends and relatives.
Dollie was born in White Springs (Upper Cibecue), moved to Whiteriver as a young girl and made a living there.
She was a homemaker and raised all of her children and other children. She was a kind, caring person that helped many unselfishly. She loved to cook and make homemade jams, pies, banana bread, yeast rolls, donuts, apple sauce and butter, hard candies and traditional Apache foods.
Dollie was also one of the founders of the tailgate food business on the reservation, which she did for about 30 years. Dollie had a lot of hobbies which included making camp dresses, western shirts, cradle boards, bead work, quilts and modern dresses for girls.
Dollie was a member of the Baptist Church in Whiteriver until her mobility was limited
“She lived her life to the fullest and she will be dearly missed, precious memories of Grandma D will always remain in our hearts.”
She is survived by her children, Bobbie and Harry Stover Jr., Leo Nachu Sr., Leon and Susie Nachu and Sonny and Bobbi Nachu; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many relatives, nieces and nephews.
Dollie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Nachu, children Rosella N. Altaha, Mary Nachu and Ike Nachu.
She was brought home Thursday, Feb. 11, to 5 E. Balsam St. in Whiteriver. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at the North Fork Miracle church in Diamond Creek.
