Ellen Maria (Koehler) Von Brentano

Ellen Maria Von Brentano, 76, of Prescott, Arizona, passed away on Feb. 13, 2016, following a lengthy illness. Ellen was born in Duisburg, Germany, on March 15, 1939. She was raised in Winkel, Germany, on the bank of the Rhine River in the Brentanohaus, which has since become a German state historical landmark. Following high school, Ellen took intensive English language and business courses. Over her career with Fritz Werner Companies and General Motors in Germany, she rose to an executive secretary position and was the personal secretary to the heads of both corporations.

In 1989 she married Kenneth George Kranhold and together they relocated to Prescott. During the 26 years she lived in Prescott, she was a volunteer at the Yavapai Regional Medical Center West Campus, contributing over 2,000 volunteer hours. Ellen was also an avid quilter and knitter and a member of the Mountain Top Quilters Guild of Prescott. Much of her work was contributed to charity.

Ellen is survived by her brother, Konrad Koehler, and sister, Regine Berg, both of Germany, as well as her stepson, Keith Kranhold, of Prescott, Arizona.

A funeral service will be held at Prescott National Cemetery at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016.

Ellen had many friends still in Germany as well as in the Prescott area. She was a very kind, thoughtful, and generous person who will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any memorial contributions in her name be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Rd. S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047.
