Jeffrey Vandell Hatcher
(November 23, 1966 - February 18, 2016)

Jeffrey Vandell Hatcher, 49, of Flagstaff passed away February 18, 2016 at Olivia White Hospice Home. Jeffrey was born on November 23, 1966, hours before Thanksgiving which made him the family’s “Thanksgiving gift”. God had looked down on Williams, Arizona and said, “I have a special baby boy who needs a special home”. That home was the home of Marvin Leroy Hatcher, Sr. and his wife Pearlie. God knew the home had lots of love and care and that they would be good with this special child.

Jeffrey was the youngest of five children; his brother Marvin Leroy Hatcher, Jr., being the eldest, the sisters Bernadine and Rhonda and then brothers Terrance Zenthen and Jesse Eugene. As time passed all the children spent many wonderful and treasured times with Jeff.

Jeffrey was very sick for a while. The doctor in Williams as well as family and friends were very helpful. After many trips to Phoenix and Flagstaff, Dr. Sechrist informed his family that Jeffrey was a down syndrome baby. This diagnosis did not slow Jeffrey down. In later years he was very active in Special Olympics basketball, swimming, track and field, and bowling. Love brought him through, but God was the doctor that saved him.

Jeffrey's father, grandparents, great grandparents and niece Alania Jena’ Hatcher preceded him in death. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, siblings and many other extended family members and friends,

Visitation will be Friday, 5-7pm at Norvel Owens Mortuary. Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 27th at 11 AM at Christ Church of Flagstaff.

Burial will conclude the services at Citizens Cemetery. Memories and condolences can be shared with Jeffrey’s family online at www.norvelowensmortuary.com
