James M. Painter, 70, Retired Dairy Farmer

Tempe--James M. Painter, 70, a retired dairy farmer who was brought to Tempe as an infant from his native Perry, Mo., died Thursday in Georgian Court Nursing Home in Phoenix.

Mr. Painter, 136 Bonita Way, was a member of the First Methodist Church of Tempe, Knights of Pythias Lodge, and was a life member of Holstein Friesen Association.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in his church, University Drive and Forest Avenue. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. tomorrow in Carr Mortuary, 26 E. Fifth St. Burial will be in Double Butte Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Luella T.; a son, Robert M. of Tempe; a daughter, Mrs. Louise Davis of Coolidge; two sisters, Mrs. Marguerite Bassett of Tempe, Mrs. Alberta Burton of Tucson; another sister and a brother out of state and nine grandchildren.
