Tempe--Marguerite Bassett, 85, a retired grammar school teacher, died March 21, 1986, at Tempe St. Luke's Hospital. Mrs. Bassett was a lifelong resident of Arizona. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. She graduated from Tempe Normal School (now Arizona State University) and taught grammar school in Tempe and Eloy. 

Survivors include a son, William; a sister; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today with services at 10 a.m. Thursday at Carr Memorial Chapel, 1445 W. Southern, Tempe.
