She was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Oak Park, Ill., to Robert R. and Crystal G. (Lewis) Davis.
Mrs. Piper and her husband, Norman, were married Nov. 26, 1936, in Hesperia, Mich. They moved to Goodyear in 1953.
Her husband died Aug. 13, 1968, and she moved to Prescott in 1981. She worked as a commercial artist for more than 20 years. She completed training as a licensed practical nurse, but found that the love of art was her passion and livelihood. Painting was an extension of her life.
She also served the tenants of Prescott Samaritan Towers as librarian and editor of the Towers weekly newsletter.
Mrs. Piper was a gardener and had a wonderful gift for growing plants of all sorts. She was also a volunteer for Sharlot Hall Museum. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and South Mountain Artists Guild.
She was proudest of her two sons and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Survivors include her sons, Steven of Prescott and Norman of Phoenix; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 5, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 630 Park Ave., with the Rev. John Martin officiating.
The Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home helped the family with arrangements.
